You'll notice its a mix of both American and British shows, and the British ones I watch tend to be about young people and their lives. I do get tired of seeing the same "stupid teenager that thinks they know everything" representation, which is why I enjoy seeing a more far-fetched depiction of teenage life in the American dramas.
I don't know what makes me want to watch these shows.
Its certainly not the easy-to-relate-to storylines, because I don't relate to any of them. That being said, it might be that its interesting to see a character's life which is so different to mine, or that these are weekly dramas, and each week, there's another mind-blowing cliffhanger to keep me on the edge of my seat until next week.
